Best for Fastest Turnaround: 6 Custom Packaging Companies Ranked

03 November 2026

A launch date doesn't move because your packaging is late. If you're printing custom packaging for a product drop, a trade show, or a reorder you didn't see coming, the number that matters is how soon a finished order leaves the building.

That number is harder to compare than it looks. One company counts from your artwork, another from proof approval, another from the moment you order, and some quote printing time only. This guide ranks six online companies by their fastest published production option and shows where each one starts the clock, so you can compare like with like.

This guide is published by The Packaging Lab, and we rank ourselves first because our published expedited time is the shortest of the six. We are not an independent reviewer. Every figure comes from the official page linked in each entry, checked on October 23, 2026. Production options and terms change, so check them at checkout before you rely on a date.

How We Ranked Turnaround

Each company had to clear three gates. It sells custom printed packaging that you can configure and order online. It publishes a specific production or ship time on an official page, not just "fast." And it shows enough about when that time starts for a buyer to plan around it.

We then ranked by the fastest production option each company publishes for printed pouches, the format all six make. Shipping transit is left out because every company here lists it separately, and it depends on your address. Vistaprint sells custom pouches but says only that most orders ship "within a few business days," so it didn't clear the second gate.

A faster published number doesn't always mean an earlier delivery. Where a company's clock starts, its daily cutoff and its proof rules can add or remove a day or more, so each entry spells those out.

Why Short-Run Digital Printing Speeds Up Custom Packaging

Five of the six say they print digitally (Sticker Mule's pouch page doesn't say), and that is most of the reason a custom order can ship in days rather than weeks. Conventional flexographic and rotogravure presses need printing plates or engraved cylinders made for each design before the first impression. A digital press prints straight from your file, so there is nothing to make, mount, or store, and a new design costs no more setup than a reorder. Flexible packaging converter ProAmpac puts the cost advantage of digital at runs under about 15,000 feet of film, which it says is roughly 30,000 pouches depending on size.

Printing is only one stage, though. A finished pouch goes through printing, lamination to a barrier film, slitting to width, and pouch forming and sealing. At The Packaging Lab, all four happen on our own floor in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, on HP Indigo digital presses and our own laminating, slitting, and pouch machines. When one company owns every stage, a rush order doesn't wait in another company's queue between steps.

Speed doesn't have to cost barrier performance. Our thick white gloss film is a 48-gauge printed PET layer laminated between a 1.2 mil gloss PET exterior and a 3.0 mil white EVOH/PE sealant. Its spec sheet lists oxygen transmission of 0.06 cc/100 in²/24 hr or less (ASTM D3985), water vapor transmission of 0.063 g/100 in²/24 hr or less (ASTM F1249), seal strength of at least 9 lb/in (ASTM F88), and a sealing range of 250 to 350°F. UPrinting and Packlane publish a similar structure: 48-gauge PET over a 3.0 mil EVOH coextrusion, with an oxygen transmission rate under 0.05.

The 6 Companies, Ranked by Fastest Published Turnaround

1. The Packaging Lab

Best for: fastest turnaround on custom stand-up pouches, from a single pouch up.

We are a custom packaging manufacturer that prints, laminates and converts every pouch in our own facility, so the production schedule is ours to run.

  • Fastest option: Production in as little as 1 business day, or 5 business days standard. You choose the timing (1 to 5 business days) when you order.
  • Clock starts: When we have a print-ready art file, with a 3 p.m. Central daily cutoff, excluding weekends and holidays.
  • Guarantees: If we can't produce your order in the time you chose, we upgrade your shipping to make up the time. If an order doesn't ship on its ship date for a reason within our control, we expedite shipping so it arrives the same day FedEx would have delivered it.
  • Formats and minimums: 12 stand-up and 8 lay-flat sizes, plus rollstock film. Standard sizes have no minimum order quantity. Custom sizes typically need 5,000 pieces and 5 to 10 business days.
  • Shipping: FedEx Ground to U.S. addresses is included and usually takes 1 to 7 days. FedEx Express Saver, 2-Day, and Overnight cost extra.

Worth considering: Our proof arrives by email after you order, and if you don't accept or reject it within 12 hours, the order moves into production. That is the main reason our dates hold, and the main thing to plan for. If someone else has to sign off on your label, have them ready before you check out. Our proof checklist covers what to look at in those 12 hours.

Know before ordering: We don't proofread copy or test barcodes, QR codes, or links, and we don't offer physical proofs, child-resistant zippers, or recyclable films. Files must be a single-page PDF on our dieline. If ours needs fixing, file setup costs $125 per file, and the clock starts once the corrected file is ready.

2. UPrinting

Best for: the latest daily cutoff.

UPrinting is a large online printer that sells stand-up, flat and child-resistant pouches alongside boxes and labels.

  • Fastest option: Printing in 2 business days, with 4- and 6-day options. The figure covers printing only, not transit.
  • Clock starts: Once UPrinting has print-ready files, your proof approval and full payment. The packaging cutoff is 6 p.m. Pacific (9 p.m. Eastern), and weekends and holidays don't count.
  • Formats and minimums: 12 printed stand-up sizes and 8 flat sizes, from 100 to 10,000 pieces. Child-resistant stand-up and flat pouches are sold separately.
  • Material: White barrier film is 48-gauge PET over a 3.0 mil EVOH coextrusion, 4.6 mil on average, with an oxygen transmission rate under 0.05. Metallized film is 3.1 mil, with an OTR under 0.08.

Worth considering: A 6 p.m. Pacific cutoff gives East Coast buyers until 9 p.m. to approve a proof and still start the next business day, the latest cutoff published by any company here.

Know before ordering: Files aren't queued to print until you approve the PDF proof, so the 2-day option only helps if you answer the proof quickly. The free PDF proof is the fast route; a hard copy proof ships to you first and adds days.

3. Sticker Mule

Best for: small, fast orders where free 2-day shipping matters.

Sticker Mule is best known for stickers and also sells stand-up pouches, poly mailers, bubble mailers and packaging tape.

  • Fastest option: Standard is 4 business days of production plus 2-day shipping, free on U.S. orders over $21. A $9 rush produces in 3 days instead of 4 on orders under $500, and a $4 rush applies to orders under $21.
  • Clock starts: At proof approval. Checkout dates assume you approve within 24 hours, and each extra day you take moves delivery by a day.
  • Formats and minimums: Two pouch sizes, 5 x 6 in. and 7.75 x 10 in., with a resealable zipper, from 10 pieces. Sticker Mule says the pouches meet FDA and EU food contact rules for certain foods.

Worth considering: Two-day shipping is built into the standard timeline and comes free above $21, so production plus transit is about 6 business days. For a small order headed far from a pouch plant, that can beat a faster production time paired with ground shipping.

Know before ordering: Rush is not available on orders over $500, and larger orders take longer: 7 business days over $5,000, and 12 over $10,000, where shipping also drops from 2-day to UPS Ground at 1 to 5 days. The pouch page doesn't publish film structure or barrier data, so ask for it if shelf life matters.

4. Packlane

Best for: ordering pouches and boxes from one account.

Packlane sells mailer, shipping and product boxes along with stand-up and flat pouches, and says its pouches are produced in the USA.

  • Fastest option: Rush production of 5 business days, or 7 standard, on both pouch formats.
  • Clock starts: At proof approval. Packlane emails a PDF proof within 24 hours of checkout and describes its checkout dates as estimates, not guarantees.
  • Formats and minimums: Six stand-up and five flat sizes, from 100 to 10,000 pieces. Its films use the same construction as UPrinting's and are not currently recyclable.

Worth considering: Packlane's prepress team will review artwork emailed before you order, within 4 hours during business hours. That catches file problems before they cost you a day.

Know before ordering: You have 3 business days to answer the proof, and Packlane approves it on the fourth. That protects your date if you forget, but a proof that sits for three days has already used up most of what rush production saved.

5. The Pouch House

Best for: several flavors or SKUs printed in one run.

The Pouch House is a domestic pouch manufacturer in Mankato, Minnesota, part of Taylor Corporation, with SQF and G7 Master Printer certification.

  • Fastest option: Typically 5 to 7 business days of production after proof approval. The product page estimates your ship date as you order.
  • Formats and minimums: 12 stand-up sizes, plus lay-flat pouches and bar wrappers. Stand-up pouches start at 100 per run, in increments of 100.
  • Extras: Variable data printing, such as serial numbers or QR codes, and child-resistant zippers certified to 16 CFR 1700.20 by custom quote.

Worth considering: The Pouch House says lead time depends mainly on total quantity and SKU count, and it prints several SKUs in a single run.

Know before ordering: Its cannabis and CBD page quotes a minimum of about 500 and shipping in about 10 business days after proof approval for those orders, and child-resistant zippers carry longer lead times. Ask which timeline applies to your order.

6. ePac Flexible Packaging

Best for: recyclable film and larger or specialty formats.

ePac is a digital flexible packaging converter that runs HP Indigo 20000 presses at plants it lists on its locations page.

  • Fastest option: Rollstock ships in 10 business days and finished stand-up and lay-flat pouches in 15, counted from artwork approval. Another ePac page cites a 10-day turnaround on most orders, so confirm which applies to your format.
  • Formats and minimums: Stand-up, lay-flat, quad-seal and flat-bottom pouches, stick packs, flow wrap, child-resistant options and rollstock. Each plant sets its own minimum.
  • Technical edge: The HP Indigo 20000 prints a frame 29.125 in. wide with a 43.125 in. repeat, so ePac can run larger pouches than most short-run printers.

Worth considering: ePac offers 100% recyclable films now and says PCR and compostable films are coming. If recyclability decides the order, it's the only company here that advertises recyclable pouch film.

Know before ordering: Its fastest published time is slower than the other five, and pricing starts with a quote request.

What About Custom Boxes?

Custom boxes take longer than pouches at every company here that publishes box times. These are the published figures for custom printed boxes:

Company

Published box production

Clock starts

UPrinting

5 business days for samples under 5 boxes; 10 to 15 for 5 or more

Proof approval, or artwork approval without a proof

Arka

7 to 10 business days; rush available

Proof approval

Packlane

7 to 15 business days for most custom packaging; rush on select products

Proof approval

If your launch needs both, order the boxes first and the pouches second. A pouch order placed a week later can still arrive at the same time.

Which Company Is Best for Fastest Turnaround?

On published production time, The Packaging Lab is fastest at 1 business day, and it publishes a guarantee on both production timing and ship date. The best choice for you still depends on what else your order needs.

  • Under 100 pouches, as fast as possible: The Packaging Lab, from one pouch.
  • Approving late in the day: UPrinting, with a 6 p.m. Pacific packaging cutoff.
  • A small order with fast delivery included: Sticker Mule, with free 2-day shipping on U.S. orders over $21.
  • A child-resistant closure: UPrinting online, or The Pouch House by quote.
  • Recyclable film: ePac, with a longer lead time.

Whichever you choose, most lost days happen before production starts. A file that isn't print-ready, a proof that sits overnight, or an approval that misses the cutoff each costs a full business day. A print-ready PDF, an approver who's free when the proof lands, and a shipping service that matches your deadline will save more time than any rush fee.

Common Questions

What is the fastest turnaround for custom stand-up pouches?

Among the six companies here, the shortest published production time is 1 business day, from The Packaging Lab. UPrinting publishes 2 business days of printing, and Sticker Mule 3 with paid rush. Shipping is added to all three.

Can I get fast turnaround, low-MOQ custom packaging?

Yes, for pouches. The Packaging Lab prints standard sizes from one pouch with 1-business-day production available. Sticker Mule starts at 10 pouches, and UPrinting, Packlane, and The Pouch House start at 100. At The Packaging Lab and The Pouch House, custom sizes raise the minimum and lengthen the lead time, and so do The Pouch House's child-resistant zippers.

Does turnaround include shipping?

No. All six list production separately from transit. Our included FedEx Ground shipping usually takes 1 to 7 days depending on location, and faster FedEx services are available at checkout.

When does the turnaround clock start?

It depends on the company. We start when we have print-ready artwork. UPrinting starts when it has files, proof approval, and payment. Sticker Mule, Packlane, The Pouch House, and ePac start at proof or artwork approval. Each company's cutoff time decides whether today counts.
