POUCH, INSPECT, SHIP

YOUR POUCHES ARE MADE BY US, IN OUR OWN FACILITY.

The Packaging Lab is a custom pouch packaging manufacturer. Your artwork is printed on our digital press in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. The printed web is laminated, slit, and run through our own pouch machines. Our team inspects the finished pouches and boxes them for shipping.

That means when you call with a question about a seal, a color, a size, or a deadline, you are talking to the people who run the equipment, and they can walk out to the floor and look at your job.

WHAT “DIRECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER” ACTUALLY CHANGES

Choosing a custom packaging pouch manufacturer that owns its equipment changes four things. Answers come from the production floor. Problems get solved by the person who can fix them. Custom requests are a conversation with the people who would have to build it. And your order gets tracked by the team producing it, from file upload through shipping.

WHAT WE MAKE AS A CUSTOM FLEXIBLE PACKAGING MANUFACTURER

We build three product families as a custom flexible packaging manufacturer: custom printed stand-up pouches, lay-flat pouches, and rollstock film. Every one is digitally printed from your artwork, so you can change your design on every order without a new plate charge. As a custom printed pouch manufacturer that runs its own press, that flexibility costs you nothing.

CUSTOM STAND-UP POUCHES

An expandable bottom gusset lets the pouch stand on its own. Choose from 12 standard sizes, clear, white, or metallized high-barrier material, gloss or matte finish, plus optional resealable zippers, hang holes, and printed windows. Artwork can cover the entire exterior, including the gusset.

CUSTOM LAY-FLAT POUCHES

Also called a flat pouch or three-side-seal pouch: no gusset, lies flat. A strong fit for smaller volumes, single-serve, and sample packs. Same high-barrier materials, same finish and zipper options, same food-safe construction.

CUSTOM ROLLSTOCK FILM

Custom printed film supplied on rolls for brands and co-packers running their own packaging equipment. Your machine forms, fills, and seals the finished package, so we print and wind the film to the width and repeat length your line requires. Dielines available on request.

NOT SURE WHAT YOU NEED? START WITH THE SAMPLES.

Our free sample pack contains our standard sizes, materials, and finishes, so you can compare gloss against matte and hold the real thing before you commit. It ships free.

NO PRINT-READY ARTWORK? OUR DESIGN TEAM BUILDS IT.

Design For Me pairs you with our in-house graphic artists, who work in the same building as the press, so what they design is what the press can actually print.

THE EQUIPMENT IS OURS, SO IS THE TEAM RUNNING IT.

A pouch is not printed and finished in one step. It moves through a chain of machines, and each one is on our floor in Brooklyn Park, operated by people on our payroll.

01 HP Indigo 20K Digital Press

Run by our own press operator. Digital printing means no printing plates, no plate charges, and a fresh design on every order if you want one.

02 Lamination

Printed film is laminated into the high-barrier structure that protects your product from oxygen, moisture, and light.

03 Slitting & Rewinding

Our slitter operators cut each job to the size the customer ordered and combine same-size jobs to keep the pouch line efficient.

04 Pouch Machines

Our pouch machines convert printed, laminated, slit rolls into finished pouches, folding the film and forming the seals.

05 Inspection & In-House Maintenance

Every order is inspected before it leaves the building, and our maintenance technician keeps every machine in the chain running.

OUR PROCESS FROM YOUR FILE TO YOUR DOCK

One continuous web of film, six stations, one building. This is the path your order takes.

01 Choose & Upload

Pick your product, size, material, and features. Upload a print-ready PDF, or hand it to Design For Me.

02 Proof

You get a digital proof by email to accept or reject before anything goes to the press.

03 Print

Your artwork is printed on a flat web of film on our digital press. No plates. No plate charge.

04 Laminate & Slit

The web is laminated into its barrier structure, then slit and rewound to your job’s size.

05 Pouch & Inspect

Our pouch machines fold and seal the film into finished pouches. Our team inspects them.

06 Ship

Boxed and shipped on your guaranteed ship date. Free FedEx Ground to U.S. addresses.

Ordering rollstock instead? Steps 01-04 are the same. Your order leaves us as printed, laminated film on rolls; it is not a finished package. Your packaging equipment, or your co-packer's, forms, fills, and seals it into the final package, which is why the width, repeat length, and eye marks are dictated by your machine.

THE ADVANTAGE OF ORDERING DIRECT FROM A CUSTOM POUCH PACKAGING MANUFACTURER

Plenty of good companies sell pouches. What we offer is a shorter line between your question and the machine that answers it.

  • You talk to the floor

You reach people who know the press, the pouch machines, and your job — the same people who are responsible for producing it.

  • Problems get solved faster

When something needs attention, a file, a color, a date, the person who takes the call can go look at the job on the floor and act on it that day.

  • Real production knowledge

Ask whether a window or a size will work, and you get an answer grounded in what our equipment actually does.

  • Order only what you need

No minimum order quantity. Order a single pouch if that is what the launch calls for. It makes us a practical pouch manufacturer for small businesses and new product lines, not just large runs.

  • Speed we control

Standard lead time is five business days, with expedited options down to 24 hours. We can promise a guaranteed ship date because the schedule is ours to run.

  • Support all the way through

From artwork specs and dielines to proofs, production, and shipping, the same team stays with your order. If a mistake happens, we fix it right away.

ORDER YOUR POUCHES FROM THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE THEM

The Packaging Lab exists because we got tired of watching good products wait for packaging they had to over-order to get. Our press, our pouch machines, our production team, our schedule — all in one building in Brooklyn Park, which is why we can take an order of one, put fresh artwork on every run, and still ship in as little as 24 hours. Before you order, ask us anything: you will be talking to the custom pouch packaging manufacturer that will actually build it. Call 612-383-1960, or order your free sample pack and hold the material in your hand first.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTIONS ABOUT WORKING WITH THE MANUFACTURER

Is The Packaging Lab actually the manufacturer, or a reseller?

We are the manufacturer. Your pouches are printed, laminated, slit, formed, sealed, and inspected on our own equipment at our facility in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, by our own production team. When you order from us, you are working directly with the company that makes the packaging.

What does working directly with the manufacturer get me?

A shorter path to an answer. Questions about materials, sizes, seals, artwork, or timing go to people who work alongside the machines, so they can check your job and respond with what is actually happening on the floor. It also means that custom requests are discussed with the team that will build them, and that one team supports your order from upload through production and shipping.

What types of pouches does The Packaging Lab manufacture?

Two pouch formats and one film product: custom printed stand-up pouches with a bottom gusset, lay-flat pouches (also called flat or three-side-seal pouches), and custom rollstock film. Stand-up pouches come in 12 standard sizes with clear, white, or metalized high-barrier material, gloss or matte finish, and optional zippers, hang holes, and windows.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No. There is no minimum order quantity. You can order a single pouch if that is all you need. That makes us a realistic no-minimum custom pouch manufacturer for small businesses, product launches, test runs, and seasonal SKUs, without forcing you to buy a pallet you cannot use.

How fast can The Packaging Lab produce a custom pouch order?

Standard lead time is five business days, with expedited options available down to 24-hour production. Because we run the schedule and the equipment ourselves, we offer a guaranteed production timeline and a guaranteed ship date.

Are there setup fees or printing plate charges?

No. We print digitally, so there are no printing plates and no plate charges. The price you see on the website is your total cost, and it includes FedEx Ground shipping to U.S. addresses. Expedited shipping services cost extra. Because there is no plate, you can change your artwork on every order at no penalty.

Can rollstock film be turned into pouches?

Not by you, and that is by design. Rollstock is printed and laminated film supplied on rolls; it is not a finished package. It is meant to run on a packaging machine, yours or your co-packer’s, which forms, fills, and seals it into the final package. The width, repeat length, and eye marks are dictated by your equipment, so tell us your machine’s requirements and we can provide a dieline.

Where are The Packaging Lab’s pouches made?

In our own facility at 9491 Winnetka Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445 — printed, laminated, slit, formed, sealed, and inspected on our own equipment, by our own team.

Can I see and feel the material before I commit?

Yes. Order a free sample pack. It includes our standard sizes, materials, and finishes,  including gloss and matte, and pouches with windows, so you can compare them side by side. It ships to you free.

What if I do not have print-ready artwork?

Our in-house design team can build it. Design For Me puts you with graphic artists who work in the same building as the press. If you would rather design it yourself, start from our template dielines and follow our artwork specifications; we print from high-resolution PDFs.
